To visit the Royal Palace in Oslo or Det Kongelige Slot, as it’s called in Norwegian, is certainly a must during your stay in the city. Every day, you also have the chance to see the changing of the guards.
The guard company, which has the full name The Royal Norwegian Company of Marksmen, was inaugurated already in 1856. Since 1888, the King’s Guard has been on spot at the Royal Palace in Oslo every day, 24 hours a day. The Changing of the guards takes place at the palace at 13.30 daily. When summer comes, you can sometimes be lucky enough to see a concert along with the ceremony.
