Stockholm is a big capital with city districts filled with different characteristics. If you want to visit the fancy shops, hang out with the posh people and go partying with the hot shots of the city, the area around Stureplan is the place to go.
Stureplan is really only the name of the public square between city districts Norrmalm and Östermalm, but to most stockholmers the area surrounding it beholds the name too. It’s where many big streets of the city meet – Kungsgatan, Sturegatan and Birger Jarlsgatan. Next to the square you will find many of the city’s most popular clubs; Spy Bar, Sturecompagniet, Laroy and Hell’s Kitchen. It’s also the home to many posh restaurants such as Sturehof, Riche and Vassa Eggen. It’s here that you’ll find businessmen taking their after works, mixed with the celebrities (and sometimes even members of the royal family) and upper-class teenagers. Nearby you’ll find the most expensive shopping street of the city: Biblioteksgatan. It’s just not because of the price tags of the clothes hanging here – the rents are some of the highest in the entire city. Thus, the tenants are stores like Versace, LV, Hugo Boss, Marc Jacobs and Gucci. If you want to have a day soaked in luxury, now you know where to go. Just take the metro (or simply walk if your hotel is located in the inner-city) to Östermalmstorg.
