Places in Stockholm: Brunkebergstunneln

If you’ve followed the #Stockholm-hashtag on Instagram, you might have seen photos of a long tunnel. It looks infinite, is yellow and if you ask us, a bit creepy by night…

The tunnel is called Brunkebergstunneln and was built between the years of 1884 – 1886. It was inaugurated by King Oscar II on the 9th of June in 1886. Ready was a tunnel, 231 meters long, 4 meters wide and 3,9 meters high. From the beginning the residents had to pay 2 cents to pass the tunnel. If you want to visit the tunnel, it stretches from David Bagares Gata 6 to Tunnelgatan 1A. It goes under Regeringsgatan and Malmskillnadsgatan.
