Only 35 kilometers from Copenhagen city you’ll find the city Humblebæk, located on the shore of Øresund Sound. Here, located by the cliffs leading straight to the ocean, you’ll find Louisiana Museum of Modern Art.

Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is not your ordinary art museum. It holds permanents collection from modern and contemporary art (some from World War II, some from modern times), as well as special exhibitions. Among them have been Yayoi Kusama, Andy Warhol, Olafur Eliasson and Yoko Ono, just to mention a few. Other than that, it is the most visited art museum in Denmark. It’s number 85 on the most visited art museums in the whole while world. That must mean something, right?

The story and name behind Louisiana comes from the first owner of the property – Alexander Brun. He had three wives, all named Louise, which he named the property after. It wasn’t until 1958 however, that Knud W Jensen opened the museum.

Besides from the collections and exhibitions inside the museum you will find a stunning sculpture garden, belonging to the museum. It’s sloping towards the Øresund Sound and is made up by a plateau. Here you can wander around, look out at the sea or have a Danish delight in the cafeteria – a treat with a view. For opening hours and more information about visiting the museum, go to Louisiana Museum of Modern Art’s website.
