The early months of the year most often mean unpredictable weather in Stockholm. It can be snowing, raining or just bloody cold. To hide away from the cold, do as the Swedes do, go for a fika. Here are three cafés in Stockholm that’s perfect for that.

Bageri Petrus, Swedenborgsgatan 4B
Located centrally by Mariatorget on Södermalm lies the bakery Petrus. Once you’ve started walking on Swedenborgsgatan, the smell might hit you – freshly baked! This little gem is hugely popular with the locals, which is totally well deserved. The coffee is by far some of the greatest you’ll find in the city and the pastries melt in your mouth. Drool over goodies on their Instagram before you go, it’s hard to decide what to get as it is… Might as well come prepared!

Mr Cake, Rådmansgatan 12
When Mr Cake opened in 2017 it was an instant success for the locals. One of the owners is a pastry chef famous from TV, Roy Fares, who with his tv-shows have made people crave bun after bun. Both owners have also been awarded “The Pastry Chef of the year”. Naturally, when they opened on Rådmansgatan (Vasastan), people were in a hurry to run there. They call their place a mix of American café culture meets Swedish fika with a twist. Check out Mr Cakes Instagram here.

Petite France, John Ericssonsgatan 6
For a taste of France in Stockholm, this is your go-to place. Petite France lies on an alleyway in Kungsholmen, with a big outdoor seating area during Summer. It’s just as cozy during Winter. Offering both breakfast, lunches, and dinner but also pastries, Petite France really has the French feeling all around it. For a fika, try one of their delicious macarons, mini-tartelettes or a classic crème brûlée. Scout what to eat on their Facebook-page.
