Copenhagen’s Christmas Spirit

Book this tour now

COPENHAGEN. 1,5hrs. Experience the Danes’ favourite season and how the city is transformed into a Christmas wonderland as cosy Christmas markets and holiday decorations take over the city.

Starting from the beautifully decorated entrance of Tivoli Gardens, you will see the Christmas highlights of Copenhagen, including the stunning 20 meters high Christmas tree on the City Hall square, Royal Copenhagen’s Christmas Porcelain and, of course, the lavishly decorated facade of the Hotel D’Angleterre. Soon you will forget all about the frosty weather, as delightful Christmas decorations illuminate the street and Christmas cookies such as pebbernødder and brunkager are offered for free in every store. This makes Christmas shopping extra delicious!

During the tour you will learn about nisser – Christmas elves, the importance of risengrød – rice porridge and why a single almond is put in the Christmas Eve dessert risalamande. Want to celebrate Christmas the Danish way even more? With your guide, discover more about typical Danish traditions such as lille juleaften – little Christmas Eve, the very popular julefrokost – Christmas lunch and how Christmas trees are decorated in Denmark.

And we can't forget to talk about one of our favourite Danes and his mark on this festive time of year! We're talking about H.C. Andersen of course! Did you know that H.C. Andersen created the earliest known woven Christmas Heart? Listen while your guide delights you with the tales about how H.C. Andersen has influenced Christmas in Denmark. Finally, you will taste the Danish Christmas classic: æbleskiver – delicious round pancake puffs served with strawberry jam and powdered sugar!

Get ready for 90 minutes of genuine Danish Christmas that guarantees you left with a Christmas Spirit that lasts the whole season!
