Oslo’s “Ut På Tur, Aldri Sur” Private Walking TourBook this tour now
OSLO. 3hrs. Time to get your inner-Norwegian on! Put on your happiest mood and comfiest walking shoes to discover “ut på tur, aldri sur.” It’s time to explore Oslo’s city centre - from Opera to Royal Palace and everything in-between.
Have you noticed how the Norwegians are always outside and that they’re never sour when they are? Have you ever heard of “ut på tur, aldri sur” - the Norwegian rhyme which translates to “out on a trip, never sour”? Rain or shine, you’ll see them enjoying the many bike paths, forest hiking paths and ski slopes located throughout the country, and even in and around Oslo too. They said “When in Rome,” so “when in Oslo”… we’ll give it a try! Put on your most weather-appropriate gear (the Norwegians say there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing), and together we’ll discover the meaning of “ut på tur, aldri sur” in Oslo’s city centre.
Step off from the Nobel Peace Center, located along the Harbourside of Aker Brygge. With neighbours like the Oslo City Hall and Akershus Fortress, we’ll uncover the stories of Oslo, right down to when Oslo received its name (in modern times). It once had a different name!
Strolling toward the water, a building appears in the distance, rising from the sea (or so it seems). Before you is the Oslo Opera House, home to the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet. Unique to the Oslo Opera are the performances that take place on the roof a few times a year. You don’t need to be royalty to enjoy this exclusive experience!
To get in touch with our inner-Norwegian, we cover topics like customs and traditions, holiday celebrations and typical Norwegian food, all while enjoying a “koselig” (cosy) time at a local café with a pastry and a coffee. Refreshed from our stop, we’ll finish the A to Zs of “ute på tur, aldri sur” with the University, Royal Palace and National Theatre, right in the middle of the city centre. Now that we’ve tried out “ut på tur, aldri, sur” on a private walking tour of Oslo, what do you think of the expression? Don’t worry, we’ll help you with the pronunciation!
Please note: Depending on the weather (sometimes it’s cold in Norway), how far you feel like walking (it may be a vacation or work outing after all), and your interests (did someone say royalty?!), there is the possibility to not walk the full distance, just ask your guide, they don’t bite.
