Stockholm’s Christmas Spirit Private Walking TourBook this tour now
Get your holiday mood on! Wander the alleys of Stockholm's Old Town as we fill you in on what a typical Swedish Christmas is like. A market, mulled wine and customs, can you feel Stockholm's Christmas Spirit in the air!
“Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose, Yuletide carols being sung by a choir and folks dressed up like Eskimos…" It’s time to get in the holiday mood with a private walking tour in search for Stockholm’s Christmas Spirit! If you are planning a vacation for December, you have to experience what Christmas in Stockholm is like. It’s magical!
Forget about the turkey, during Christmas in Sweden it’s all about the julskinka, or Christmas ham. There are also traditions of advent candelabras, Christmas stars, Lucia Day celebrations and kids having a hard time sleeping whilst waiting for Santa, or as we say in Sweden: Tomten. Christmas markets dot the city map, one of which is located right here in the Old Town, on the main square, Stortorget. Though our stop will be short, we definitely recommend coming back after the tour to take a look around and perhaps do some Christmas gift shopping!
So what are you waiting for? Santa’s invitation? Seize the opportunity to wander the cosy streets of Stockholm’s Old Town with your private guide to see what Christmas in Stockholm is all about. When Jack Frost does start nipping at your nose, we’ll treat you to a taste of non-alcoholic mulled wine, or glögg in Swedish. While sipping warm glögg and nibbling on gingerbread cookies, your guide will share marvellous stories that make up the Christmas traditions of the Swedes long ago and today.
December and Christmas in Stockholm are magical! We can assure you that when 75 minutes are up, you’ll have enough Christmas spirit to last you until next year!
Please note: The majority of this tour takes place in areas where you will have to walk on cobblestones. We suggest wearing warm and comfortable shoes and clothes in many layers since the majority of this tour is outdoors, walking at a slow pace and stopping at various sights.
