Copenhagen & City Hall - Accessible Private Walking Tour

COPENHAGEN. 3hrs. Do you have a thing for city halls? We do! Beautiful architecture and fascinating stories – what’s not to love!? Mix that with a walk of the cosy streets of the Copenhagen Old Town and that’s what we call a home run!

The story about the tour

Looking for a hidden gem in Copenhagen? Easy – there are so many. The not so obvious one on our Copenhagen’s Old Town & City Hall Accessible Private Walking Tour is right in front of you – the Copenhagen City Hall. This impressive building draws inspiration from the Siena City Hall in Italy, and with its 105,6 meters, it’s one of the tallest building in the city. Home of the local government, this ornate building is decorated with a golden statue of Bishop Absalon, the founder of Copenhagen. Want to know a secret? The interior actually beats the exterior – don’t believe us? Let’s have a look inside! Although we cannot see as much of this city hall as we can of other Scandinavian city halls, it is well worth a visit, and best of all the Copenhagen City Hall is entirely accessible. Moving in and out is a breeze!

As this is an accessible walking tour and Copenhagen is a mix of the old and the new, we’ll take the least uneven streets the city has to offer as we stroll through Copenhagen’s Old Town. Setting off from near the Copenhagen Central Station, we’ll walk past the Tivoli Gardens, wander down medieval alleys, checkout former city hall building and enjoy stories about royalty at the Copenhagen Cathedral. We’ll learn about famous Danes at the University of Copenhagen, one of which built Copenhagen’s Round Tower.

Although sweeping fires and wars play a big part in Copenhagen’s history, luckily not everything has been destroyed. From old to new our stroll continues to the main shopping street, Strøget, and ends with a view of  Slotsholmen, the Palace Island, home to Christiansborg Palace. We finish our tour in the heart of Copenhagen just a stone’s throw from Kongens Nytorv and Nyhavn. A great place to continue your explorations from, if you need tips on what to see and to next – ask your guide!

Please note: Due to a large number of events, partial or full closure of the City Hall can take place.
