Wonder where previous royals spent their summers? In the heart of today’s Copenhagen! We’ll take you to The King’s Garden and scout for more hangouts on our Copenhagen & Rosenborg Castle Private Walking Tour.
The story about the tour
Copenhagen and its surrounding area have a plethora of castles and palaces. Which one to choose? It isn’t easy to know! Luckily, we’ll help you and take you to one of our favourites, Rosenborg Castle. Not only that, but on our Copenhagen & Rosenborg Castle Private Walking Tour, we’ll see another palace, a square with a Stone of Shame, colourful townhouses and towers galore. There’s a lot to see, so enough small talk; let’s get on to the tour!
Starting with a view of the Danish Parliament, Kings’s Royal Reception Rooms, and our other favourite Copenhagen palace – hint hint, they’re all found at the same place, Christiansborg Palace. We’ll walk in the footsteps of the Old Town of Copenhagen, much of which was destroyed by fire, but there are remains of the Old Town, hidden gems, tucked away in plain sight if you know where to look. And we do! From Bishop Absalon, considered by some to be the founder of Copenhagen, to Tycho Brahe, a famous Danish astronomer, we’ll cover well-known Danish figures and sites, including Kongens Nytorv, Strøget and the Round Tower.
Around the corner from the Round Tower, walk into the park, where a castle appears among the lush trees (in the summertime, at least). Surrounded by a moat and adorned by towers reaching toward the sky, we’ve arrived at Rosenborg Castle. Sometime during your stay in Copenhagen, you’ll most likely have heard the name King Christian IV, responsible for building half of Copenhagen (or what feels like it, at least), and this is the crowning glory of his work. We’ll enter inside his illustrious summer residence turned museum and treasury.
To finish off, we take you to one of the main attractions of Copenhagen, whether you like Instagram photos, boats, fairytales or tattoo parlours. Nyhavn is the place to be. We dare you to come and see it!
