Did you know there’s a green oasis hiding in Stockholm? Hop on your bicycle and follow us to Djurgården for our Djurgården’s Green Treasures by Bike to discover the world’s first Royal National City Park. Fresh air is everywhere!
The story about the tour
Are you tired of rush hour and fumes? Leave the bustling city centre behind, bike out to the green lung of Stockholm, Royal Djurgården, and take a deep breath in the world’s first national city park.
This is a bike tour of Djurgården’s green treasures – of which there are many. Paddle through historical areas that are common sites for visitors, such as the Vasa Museum and the open-air museum, Skansen. The highlight, not to mention the primary portion of the tour, will take you to areas that are more known among the locals, where you wouldn’t typically visit if you didn’t have a bike.
Once a royal hunting ground, it’s still possible to see wildlife and spot farm animals wandering around the quieter areas of the island park. Looking for more history to satiate your hunger for knowledge or merely the best Instagram photo of your trip? The best-preserved old part of town is located on this island, tucked away behind the amusement park, Gröna Lund, previously the harbour-side home of sailors and shipyard workers. The sleepy, cobblestone streets of Djurgårdstaden are well worth the photo stop!
On our Djurgården’s Green Treasures Private Bike Tour, we promise an oasis of leisure, some of Stockholm’s most expensive villas, a boulevard of museums and a home for bears and wolverines. Hidden right before your eyes, there is so much offered that people don’t see on this favourite city centre island (you may not believe us, but it is one of the 14 islands of the city centre!). So do like the locals and go green on our leisurely, most environmentally friendly bike tour – Djurgården’s Green Treasures! You’ll be glad you did!
