City sightseeing and a hidden gem, what more do you need? On our Oslo & City Hall Private Walking Tour, we’ll experience just that. Entertaining stories, photo stops, the gem herself, the Oslo City Hall, it’s all here!
The story about the tour
Are you looking for a city walking tour of Oslo with the touch of a hidden gem? This is it! On our Oslo & City Hall Private Walking Tour, you guessed it, we stroll through the city centre of the Norwegian capital and top it off with a visit to the Oslo City Hall. In our opinion, Oslo City Hall is one of the most rewarding places to visit when in Oslo.
This visit starts off deep in the jungle where tigers are found… just kidding! About the jungle, that is. We do start off with a tiger. If you’re having difficulty relating a tiger with Oslo, don’t worry, we’ll clue you in on the story. As Oslo is situated on the water, we make our way to the waterside, where we get a great view of the Oslo Opera House across the water (you’ll probably want to snap a photo, too!). Zigzagging our way through the inner city streets, we’ll uncover sights and accompanying stories of royal strongholds, such as Akershus Fortress and the Royal Palace, politics at Parliament and notable Norwegians, including Henrik Ibsen by the National Theatre.
Before you know it, we’re on the doorstep of the Oslo City Hall. We enter the main hall, which may look familiar. On December 10th, every year, the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded here in the presence of the King of Norway. With halls decorated with exquisite artistic craftsmanship, it is also the scene of weddings and political discussions. Graced by Norwegian Royalty, foreign dignitaries and Nobel Laureates, the Oslo City Hall, perhaps unassuming in an appearance on the exterior, is a real treasure to be enjoyed. You’ll be glad you did!
We end our tour near the Nobel Peace Centre, where we’ll have a fantastic view of the Oslo Fjord and Aker Brygge. A launching point for ferries and sightseeing tours, it’s also a great starting point for further city adventuring.
