Oslo Nature Walks: Island Hopping in the Oslo Fjord

Do you want to spend the day like a local? Enjoying the nature that surrounds Oslo? Follow us to the fjord and the islands of Hovedøya, Lindøya, and Gressholmen on our Nature Walks: Island Hopping in the Oslo Fjord Private Walking Tour.

The story about the tour

Hovedøya, Lindøya and Gressholmen – Let’s spend the afternoon like an Oslo local! Our Oslo Nature Walks: Island Hopping in the Oslo Fjord Private Walking Tour includes striking views, water, and three islands on the Oslo Fjord, all very close to the city centre of Oslo.

Our island-hopping adventure starts with a scenic ferry ride to the island of Hovedøya. Hiking through beautiful meadows and birch forests, we’ll take a closer look at the ruins of a cloister set up by the English. We’ll also make a short stop at a nearby natural beach to stretch our legs and enjoy the view of the Oslo Fjord before continuing to the next island. From undisturbed nature to absolute holiday heaven, we have arrived on the island of Lindøya. How do traditional wooden houses, dazzling wildflowers, charming gardens and exquisite scenery sound? We guarantee you’ll fall in love with the Norwegian landscape; how could you not!? If you hear your tummy making noises, you’ll be glad to learn it’s lunchtime (not included). Sit down and relax on yet another stunning Norwegian beach and enjoy your picnic lunch as you savour the views of the fjord and hills of Oslo. Pro-tip – make sure you bring your camera!

Last but not least, we arrive on the island of Gressholmen. Unlike the other islands, the island of Gressholmen offers sea cliffs, hidden beaches, and dense forest – an excellent spot for a swim! And as no Norwegian hiking experience is complete without cooling down with a refreshing swim, we almost hope you have worked up a sweat during the hike. The gulf stream makes this water some of the warmest in Northern Europe. What are you waiting for!? Go for it!

Before we know it, a few hours of our island hopping has passed, and our Oslo Nature Walks: Island Hopping the Oslo Fjord Private Walking Tour must come to an end. As we take you back to the city and approach the dock, we’ll finish by pointing out a few of Oslo’s most iconic landmarks. Wham, bam – thank you (mam!).
