Oslo’s “Ut på tur, aldri sur”

Time to get your inner Norwegian on! Put on your happiest mood and comfiest walking shoes to discover our Oslo’s “Ut på tur, aldri sur” Private Walking Tour. From the Opera House to the Royal Palace and everything in between.

The story about the tour

Have you noticed how the Norwegians are always outside and never sour when they are? Have you ever heard of “Ut på tur, aldri sur” – the Norwegian rhyme which translates to “out on a trip, never sour”? Rain or shine, you’ll see them enjoying the many bike lanes, forest hiking paths and ski slopes throughout the country and even in and around Oslo. They said, “When in Rome,” so “when in Oslo”,… we’ll give it a try! Put on your most weather-appropriate gear (the Norwegians say there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing), and together we’ll discover the meaning of “ut på tur, aldri sur” in Oslo’s city centre.

Set off from the Nobel Peace Center, located along the Harbourside of Aker Brygge. With neighbours like the Oslo City Hall and Akershus Fortress, we’ll uncover the stories of Oslo, right down to when Oslo received its name (in modern times). It once had a different name!

Strolling toward the water, a building appears in the distance, rising from the sea (or so it seems). In front of you lies the Oslo Opera House, home to the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet. Unique to the Oslo Opera are the performances held on the roof a few times per year. You don’t need to be royalty to enjoy this exclusive experience!

To get in touch with our inner Norwegian, we cover topics like customs and traditions, holiday celebrations and typical Norwegian food, all while enjoying a “koselig” (cosy) time at a local café with a pastry and a coffee. Refreshed from our stop, we’ll finish the A to Zs of “Ut på tur, aldri sur” with the Oslo University, Royal Palace and National Theatre, right in the city centre. Now that we’ve tried our Oslo “Ut på tur, aldri, Private Walking Tour, what do you think of the expression? Don’t worry; we’ll help you with the pronunciation!
