Royal Copenhagen - Private Walking Tour

Get to know one of the world’s oldest monarchies, the Danish Royal Family, their history and Copenhagen while strolling between Palace and Castle. Don’t know the difference? On our Royal Copenhagen Private Walking Tour, we’ll sort you out!

The story about the tour

The Danish Monarchy is one of the oldest in the world. What’s the story behind the beloved Royal Family, with high approval ratings all over the country? Get to know them whilst we see the city of Copenhagen by foot, passing one sight after the other on our way to two of the many palaces of the city, Christiansborg Palace and Rosenborg Castle. This is your own Royal Copenhagen Private Walking Tour!

At the impressive Christiansborg Palace, the Queen of Denmark and the Danish Parliament share a coffee machine and office space (well, they share the palace, at least). Marvel at the luxurious interior and sensational history that decorated the walls of this palace. Continuing to Rosenborg Castle, the smallest palace in the city. It has served as a summer residence and home to many kings in the past. Heartbreak and warfare rest in the many rooms that make up the castle today. Hush, did you hear something, or was it just us…? Stepping outside the surrounding palace grounds, The King’s Garden is a popular spot for locals to picnic and hang out in.

Going from one palace to the next, we’ll sweep through the inner city, also known as Indre By. Fires and war have mostly destroyed the old town of Copenhagen, but there are still many old buildings and streets to enjoy. On our walk of the old town, we’ll pass sights such as the Round Tower, topped with an observatory that is the oldest in Europe still functioning; Strøget, the main pedestrian shopping street of the city; and the University of Copenhagen, one of the oldest universities in Europe. But wait, there’s still a royal sight on our walk between Christiansborg and Rosenborg! – Vor Frue Kirke, or The Copenhagen Cathedral. This is where a Crown Prince said “I do” and married a commoner who became the Crown Princess in 2004. Doesn’t it all sound like a fairytale?!
