Scandinavian Interior Design

Passion or hobby? Explore the wonder that is the Scandinavian Style of design on our Scandinavian Interior Design Private Walking Tour. As you learn the basics, marvel at the quality and be amazed by its cleverness.

The story about the tour

What is the Scandinavian style of design? In short, it’s a design movement defined by simplicity, minimalism and functionality. Whether design is a passion or a hobby of yours, chances are you have heard of it. The style has impacted nearly every aspect of design since the mid-1950s. Most probably, you even know what it looks like. If we said white walls, wooden floors, and modern furniture… What would you say?

On our Scandinavian Interior Design Private Walking Tour, plunge into the Scandinavian design style. Depending on your interest, we’ll cover everything from furniture, textiles, decoration, and crafts. Walking from store to store, your guide will share the stories behind some of today’s most popular items and brands.

Did you know that it’s estimated that one IKEA BILLY bookcase is sold somewhere in the world every five seconds? Or that Josef Frank left behind 2000 furniture sketches and 160 textile designs when he died. The timeless, amazingly patterned, brilliantly coloured fabrics and beautiful furniture still cause people to pilgrimage to Svenskt Tenn. There’s also Design Torget, a marketplace for design and innovation. Iris Hantverk, which has visually impaired craftsmen from different cultures, makes brushes according to an old Swedish tradition, and Norrgavel, which makes furniture with a humanistic and ecological mindset that considers the eco-cycle.

What shops we visit depends on interest, the day of the week and time of day, but no matter what, we are sure you will enjoy getting to know Scandinavian Design better.
