From historical to contemporary, history will be brought to life by putting characters into context as we cruise in the tracks of Swedish royals on our Stockholm & Royal Palace Accessible Private Driving Tour.
The story about the tour
What do ABBA, Zlatan and the Crown Princess have in common? They are all royalty, the first two only within their field, of course. Today’s activity is all about the real deal. May we suggest you join us for a regal adventure!? Our Stockholm & Royal Palace Accessible Private Driving Tour includes a scenic drive of Stockholm’s majestic highlights and a visit to the Royal Palace itself. We will, of course, elevate the experience by sprinkling tales and legends of Swedish royals, from historical to contemporary, as we move along.
Your chariot, a.k.a. accessible van, equipped with a ramp, makes it possible to remain in your wheelchair or scooter as we whisk you away. Kick back and relax as we get you acquainted with the inner-city districts of Stockholm. There’s the city centre; Norrmalm, the bohemian part of town; Södermalm, the green oasis of the capital; Djurgården, the historical heart; Old Town and Kungsholmen, still finding its place amongst the other districts.
When driving past the Old Town, we’ll make a stop, as this is where the Royal Palace is found. Time has come to wander in and through the extravagance that is the Royal Apartments (accessible via elevator, for manual wheelchairs only). Are you finding it hard to imagine that people actually lived like this once upon a time, not to mention today? We’ll do our best to bring the many rooms to life with regal anecdotes of the people behind the warfare, love affairs, and power struggles.
Suppose you prefer to leave the Palace’s Royal Apartments behind or cannot use the elevator inside the Royal Palace. In that case, we recommend swapping the apartments for The Royal Armoury, located in the palace’s southern vaults. What is today the Royal Armoury started with a piece of clothing from a Swedish king wounded in battle. Today it’s the oldest museum in Sweden.
As our visit to the Royal Palace ends, we return to your accessible vehicle waiting to take us back to where we started.
